Virginia Tech Environmental Health and Safety Farm and Agricultural Safety Training Program

More than 334,000 Virginians work as part of the Commonwealth’s diverse agricultural ecosystem, despite farming’s status as one of the nation’s most hazardous occupations. Virginia Tech Environmental Health & Safety's (EHS) Farm and Agricultural Safety Training Program aims to reduce injuries and fatalities on the farms throughout the New River Valley and beyond.

We are actively looking for people and organizations who share an interest in our goal of reducing injuries, illnesses and fatalities on farms.  Our team wants to hear from you if you are:

  • A farmer or agricultural employer who wants to have a safer workplace, even if your only workers are family members;
  • An organization looking to establish an outreach program with farmers in your community;
  • A trainer willing to teach farm safety courses in your community; or
  • Simply interested in learning more about the FAST program.
